Great LP - despite the circumstances. This pressing has a real deep dymanic sound - doesn’t sound “unofficial”. In fact, sounds better than some JA/ US/ UK pressings I’ve heard of more “legit" LPs! Essential for any Culture collector.(note: the pink & white w/ black print labels on mine are on the wrong sides - would be interested to find if this is a common issue).
Superb press. Can’t fault sound quality. Definitely a nice and loose sound to this one.
This sounds great for being "unofficial". I don't think it is the same as most unofficial stuff and probably came from a direct master tape source. A fave reggae record.
Almost all of the songs on AFRICA STAND ALONE surfaced elsewhere, but the arrangements here are sparser and looser, and the lack of a horn section gives the album a different vibe. Agree with the previous comment - this is a really good sounding pressing, on a par with Culture's work with Pottinger, and with more warmth and a richer soundstage than the Gibbs recordings.. My copy has a B-side label on both sides of the record. The vinyl plays nice and clean, with virtually no surface noise.
