  • Jazz Vinyl Delight

    5 out of 5 stars
    WrimanDecember 22, 2025United States🇺🇸

This vinyl record is spotless and incredibly quiet. Upon close inspection, my copy has a minor warp, but it doesn't affect the sound quality at all. I've already loved the stereo version, but this one might just surpass it. I'm absolutely head over heels for this record—it's one of my all-time favorite jazz albums.

  • Chet's Stellar Solo Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    LurquhuiDecember 4, 2025United States🇺🇸

Among his finest recordings, this one truly stands out. I'm a big fan of Chet's work, especially when he's playing solo or mostly instrumental. His singing isn't my favorite, but his trumpet skills are absolutely stellar. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest of his era, and this album showcases that brilliantly. Concord/Craft made an excellent choice picking this record for this year's RSD. Last year, they blew me away with the Art Pepper Meet the Rhythm Section (mono) release, which sounded phenomenal. And this year's RSD pick, mastered by Kevin Gray, is just as impressive. The sound quality, the pressing, and the sleeve—everything about this record is top-notch.

  • Hum Ruins Stunning Record

    5 out of 5 stars
    KCWezsNovember 27, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Upon giving my copy another spin with a fresh pair of speakers that expose every detail, I noticed a persistent low-frequency hum throughout the tracks, but curiously, it's absent between them. It's likely a noise from the tape machine, as it has that mechanical, rumbling quality that really interferes with the music. Once you pick up on it, it's impossible to ignore. Now I'm left wondering if other versions have this issue too. It's such a damn shame because, apart from that, it's a stunning sounding record!

  • Chet's Comforting Evening Tunes

    5 out of 5 stars
    XedtolxucnoNovember 17, 2025United States🇺🇸

I bought this as a present for my significant other. Chet's music always takes us to another place, it's great to have around while getting ready in the evenings and overall, it's quite comforting. I love listening to it with my eyes shut.

  • Mono Records: A Timeless Treasure

    5 out of 5 stars
    NyonilipWifadjk_mgNovember 10, 2025United States🇺🇸

I don't really need to, but I always play mono records in mono, and that helps me avoid many of the small sound problems people often mention. My copy doesn't have any of the issues others have complained about: no dips, no scratches, no distortion or pops/clicks. It's silly to complain about tape hiss from a top-quality master. Tapes degrade over time. Digital could fix that. I put this on today because it matches the cold snap we had last night, and I'm reminded what a treasure this is. Get the mono or stereo version; I think the stereo is more common.
