  • Solid Turrentine Album

    4 out of 5 stars
    bucfojn322October 11, 2025United States🇺🇸

This album is pretty good and well-recorded too, making it a solid listen, even if it's not quite among the best of Turrentine. It's got those usual top-notch TP qualities. Here's hoping we get more of those connoisseur and rare groove titles reissued like this!

  • Fuller and Hancock Shine Bright

    5 out of 5 stars
    ulskgrszSeptember 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

This album is absolutely stunning. Curtis Fuller's contribution elevates this record to something truly exceptional, and the Tone Poet edition is flawless. The track "Fried Pies" showcases Fuller's incredible talent, giving him plenty of room to shine, though you can't forget that Herbie Hancock is part of this lineup. The combination of these artists is outstanding. I'd love to have 20 more albums from this group. By the way, it's been suggested that Mickey Roker might be the uncredited conga player, according to Joe Harley's September 2025 Tone Poet Society newsletter. It's not confirmed, but it's an interesting detail to mention.

  • Best T Deal Under $30

    4 out of 5 stars
    Rezwoi2515May 3, 2024United States🇺🇸

I'd be surprised if this one doesn't get a re-release before long. But hey, all T enthusiasts should definitely grab this now. It's probably the best deal you'll find under $30. The music and sound quality are top-notch. There are some truly fantastic ballads included. Unbelievable that Blue Note didn't release this earlier for reasons unknown, but thankfully, the late M. Cuscuna (RIP) made it happen.

  • Uncredited Conga Player on Track

    4 out of 5 stars
    JekuLF253January 23, 2024United States🇺🇸

There's a conga player featured on this track, but they didn't get a shoutout in the credits. You see, these unreleased Blue Note sessions sometimes had missing or wrong credits because Michael Cuscuna had to do some serious sleuthing and chat with the musicians involved to figure out who all played on them, as the master tapes didn't have that info.
