Product description

This 2024 Limited Edition Reissue LP is pressed on Red vinyl.

The Strokes' debut studio album, 'Is This It', is a seminal work that revitalised the rock music scene in 2001. Released on 30 July 2001, this iconic album was handled by RCA Records internationally and Rough Trade Records in the United Kingdom. Recorded at Transporterraum in New York City with producer Gordon Raphael, 'Is This It' showcases the band's unique blend of garage rock, indie rock, and alternative rock.

The album's 11 tracks, including classics like 'Barely Legal', 'Someday', 'Last Nite', and 'Hard to Explain', demonstrate The Strokes' ability to craft infectious, guitar-driven melodies and poignant lyrics. With a runtime of just 35 minutes, 'Is This It' is a concise yet powerful statement of intent from a band that would go on to define the sound of a generation.

Featuring a sexually explicit album cover that sparked controversy upon its release, 'Is This It' is an unapologetic and uncompromising work that showcases The Strokes' raw energy and talent. With its release, the band set the tone for guitar music in the early 2000s, striking a perfect balance between the extremes of rock music.

The Strokes' 'Is This It' is an essential listen for fans of rock music, and its influence can still be felt today. With its catchy hooks, driving rhythms, and Julian Casablancas' distinctive vocals, this album is a must-have for anyone looking to experience the best of early 2000s rock music.

  • Crisp and Incredible Record

This record sounds absolutely incredible, it's just wild how crisp it is.

  • Favorite Album Version

    5 out of 5 stars
    gdybmgJanuary 5, 2026United States🇺🇸

This is my favorite version of the album for so many reasons. Firstly, it's the ONLY version that matches the tracklist of the 2001 CD release, which is how I first discovered and fell in love with this music. In my opinion, When it started > NYC Cops. The sound quality is flat, free from surface noise, and absolutely stunning! It reminds me of the first time I played this album.

  • Vinyl Pressing Pleasantly Gritty

    4 out of 5 stars
    WqBomueJanuary 2, 2026United States🇺🇸

This pressing makes me happy. It's not as harsh on vinyl as it is on CD, but it keeps that gritty, low-fi feel. My copy was still in its seal, the record could've used a good cleaning, but it plays smooth and quiet, didn't really pick up on any surface noise.

  • Is This It: A Chaotic Journey

    5 out of 5 stars
    TomvsgusahtgcuhuDecember 22, 2025United States🇺🇸

The Strokes weren't merely performing music; they were embodying the chaotic rhythm of a generation that had grown weary of the artificial mask of reality. Is This It transcends being just an album; it's a gateway to an alternate realm where norms are twisted, and lines are smudged. It's an auditory adventure, a voyage through a maze of human existence in a concrete wilderness. The Strokes seized the moment, and with every electrifying chord, they invited us to join them on a thrilling escapade into the core of the unexplored. And, my friends, we eagerly accepted, diving headfirst into the void with a carefree abandon that could only be ignited by the primal appeal of rock 'n' roll. Can you really say there is a definitive pressing of a low-fidelity recording? Enough about lacquers and metal parts. Perhaps every version and every format of Is This It holds its own enchantment.

  • First Vinyl Purchase Delight

The first vinyl I ever purchased was this one, along with Room on Fire, back in 2010 at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame during a visit. I didn't have a setup until 2020, so I had no clue what I was holding onto. It sounds amazing, and I play it once or twice a month. It's truly a special one.
