Kacey Musgraves stands out as a distinctive and refreshing presence in today's country music scene. Her songwriting doesn't fall back on typical cowgirl or southern belle tropes; instead, she brings her own experiences and personality to the forefront. Kacey's personal beliefs often take center stage in her music. For example, Family is Family showcases her complex yet devoted perspective on family life. Meanwhile, Good Ol' Boys Club delivers a bold middle finger to the male-dominated music industry (or society as a whole, if you prefer). If you're into country/folk or enjoy female vocalists, Kacey Musgraves is an artist you absolutely need to explore. I'd recommend starting with Pageant Material, a fantastic sophomore album.
I'm absolutely thrilled with this new release! I'd previously owned a pink one that skipped terribly, so I had to send it back, and then there was the VMP version that I, in my foolishness, traded in. The glitter is understated but looks lovely in the right light, and most importantly...it sounds fantastic!
It's quite fascinating to observe this. I purchased my copy from Barnes and Noble, and I didn't encounter any skip issues on my Pro-ject turntable. Perhaps they've improved since then?
Really disappointed that this album constantly skips. I've got a decent setup and don't have any other troubles. Seems like it only plays fine with an adjustable tonearm. My turntable's kinda mid-range though, so I can't tweak the tonearm. I've attempted a bunch of fixes, but nothing's worked.
Kacey's best album in my book, so you can imagine my disappointment when I got my hands on that pink marbled edition and it turned out to be the worst pressed record I'd ever laid eyes on. Absolute delight when VMP dropped this news and even more stoked to finally have it! Sounds incredible, looks amazing, and that vinyl color? Spot on. Might just have to grab their pressing of Same Trailer too!
