An absolute standout in Monk's discography. This album is a true treasure, a must-have for any jazz enthusiast's collection. The analogue sound is top-notch, the pressing is flawless and crisp, the brass and percussion have a fantastic weight, and the rhythm and drive are simply superb.
This album captures a live concert from December 30, 1963, which was initially set for November 29th of the same year. However, due to the tragic assassination of US President John F. Kennedy just days prior, the concert was pushed back. An absolutely phenomenal recording with immense historical importance.
