Man, the bad reviews here are a laugh. These folks must have a different copy, got a bum batch, or have some trash audio gear. The record's pressing is spot on and sounds great.
The re-release of Burning Spear's timeless "Marcus Garvey" is fantastic and an awesome way to rediscover the album after not listening to it for ages! Super crisp, as others have mentioned, it's the UK version of the album that features "Resting Place," which I think was omitted from the supposedly gloomier and slower Jamaican version. Totally essential reggae and a top-notch reissue!
Wow, this reissue is fantastic! I'm familiar with this album from my CD copies, but this is how it's meant to be heard: it's incredibly powerful yet detailed simultaneously, not squashed and compressed like the CD I own. With this version, every instrument, every voice, is clearly audible, with a gorgeous stereo soundstage. I'm truly impressed...
Excellent re-release!
Bit on the loud side, but come on, it's a tiny JA pressing from '75. Still, the bass shines through real nice.
