I was hesitant to purchase this due to the clear drawbacks, but I stumbled upon it on sale, and now that I own it, I can't fathom why I ever doubted it.
This is an absolutely stunning album. Given that it's been gathering dust for ages, it's truly remarkable how fresh and fantastic it sounds. I'm not just saying that because they've polished up old tracks; no, it genuinely feels like it was recorded recently at a top-notch level. The songs themselves are also top-quality. It's a pity they weren't released sooner, but it's a blessing that we have them now.
Let down after going through all the fantastic reviews. This one's easily the crackliest Neil Young album I've got - and I've got plenty. Side one's truly terrible towards the end.
I didn't hesitate to give it a try on my Spin Clean, and the pressing turned out fantastic with no background noise. While the sound isn't as crystal clear as the original vinyl to my ears, I'm thrilled to have all these amazing tracks on one LP.
The soundstage is fantastic. The pressing quality is top-notch, and Bernie Grundman's mastering is superb.
