The bass on this track is absolutely crazy, even with just a pair of first-gen Sonos Play 1s in stereo.
I'm a big fan of MA, but my latest copy is really disappointing. Frankly, it's like AI-generated music. There's no substance, no feeling. Sadly, it's not up to par. Though, my Mezzanine CD is still top-notch.
There's not a single issue with this record pressing. Folks these days just love to find something to complain about. If the plastic wrapping on the cover isn't up to par, they instantly assume the pressing is faulty. Seriously, take a chill pill. Maybe consider getting a decent turntable that doesn't have a plastic stylus or the name "Crosley" slapped on it before whining about the pressing not meeting your high standards for sound quality in your bedroom : /
Man, my vinyl was filthy, like really REALLY bad, even had some weird white stuff, glue maybe, on it, all wrapped up. But after giving it a good clean, it sounds amazing, no hissing or skips at all.
While it might not be a widely shared view, I believe this album surpasses their first one. It feels like a natural progression, an evolution of that initial sound, but with added depth. "Karmacoma" was *richer*, "Sly" was *more profound*. By the time they recorded this, the band had grown, and it's evident in the music. The tracks seem to be drenched in darker, more intense colors. The album as a whole doesn't quite have the cohesion of the debut, but as a set of songs, it's stronger. It's more adventurous, more self-assured and mature.
