As a musician, I really enjoy this music aimed at adults. The copy I have is excellent so far, very quiet with good sound quality, though not exceptional. I consider this record a worthwhile addition to my collection and am very pleased with it. I picked it up at a record fair for a reasonable price and it's definitely the 2007 pressing. No issues here at all.
Having the bonus tracks is a must, particularly 'A Case Of You'. This rendition is so incredibly rich and emotionally beautiful. However, don't go in expecting a dreary, slow, or subdued tune. It's a fully developed arrangement that blends seamlessly with the rest of the main album. Along with the Tina Turner track, these extras make the 2-disc version absolutely worth it, in my view. The track 'Edith and the Kingpin' also features some uncredited guitar work by Prince. I've just had the most delightful afternoon immersed in this fantastic collection. Highly, highly recommended!
Terrible vinyl record quality, full of hiss, pops, and warping. Opt for the CD version instead.
Awesome album! The joy of listening was spoiled by a faulty disc. I sent it back twice, but got the same poor quality. So disappointing!
I bought this album after catching the second track, "Edith And The Kingpin," on a local jazz radio station. Tina Turner's voice has never sounded so incredible to me. No shouting, just smooth, jazzy perfection. A few other tracks are fantastic takes on Joni Mitchell songs too. But honestly, the Tina song alone makes it worth buying.
