Alright, so don't pay too much attention to the comments about the artwork (I actually really like it, but I know I'm probably in the minority) - because this *sounds* fantastic. The main album isn't quite as good as the 2LP version, but it's a big improvement over the original single disc release. It's been half-speed remastered (I don't think they mentioned that in any of the promo stuff), and they've done a much better job than the one they did for the Magic Whip 10th anniversary reissue. Don't expect some huge soundstage or anything, but it's really punchy and the pressing is spotless - there's no surface noise here. But the real highlight is the b-sides disc. Having played the original CD singles to death in the mid-90s, I know these songs as well as I know the main album - but I'm hearing things I've never noticed before. And because there's more space on the disc for the tracks to breathe, songs like Ultranol, No Monsters In Me and Tame sound massive. If you're just a casual fan, grab the 2LP version from 2012. But for true blur fans, this isn't just a cash-grab - it's really well done.

Alright, so pay no mind to all the chatter about the artwork (which, to be honest, I'm really digging, though I realize I might be in the minority) - because this *sounds* fantastic. The main album isn't quite as good as the 2LP version, but it's a substantial improvement over the original single disc release. It's been half-speed remastered (I don't believe this was mentioned in any of the promo stuff), and they've done a much better job of it than the one they did for the Magic Whip 10th anniversary reissue. Don't expect some massive soundstage or anything, but it's really punchy and the pressing is absolutely spotless - there's not a hint of surface noise here. But the real highlight is the b-sides disc. Having worn out the original CD singles in the mid-90s, I know these songs as well as I know the main album - but I'm picking up on stuff I've never noticed before. And because there's more space on the disc for the tracks to breathe, songs like Ultranol, No Monsters In Me and Tame sound huge. If you're just a casual fan, grab the 2LP version from 2012. But for die-hard Blur fans, this isn't some cheap cash-grab - it's really well done.

Alright, so pay no mind to all the chatter about the artwork (I genuinely love it, but I realize I'm probably in the minority) - because this album *sounds* fantastic. It's been half-speed remastered (I don't think they mentioned that anywhere in the promo stuff), and they've done a way better job than the one they did for the Magic Whip 10th anniversary reissue. Don't expect some massive soundstage or anything, but it's really punchy and the pressing is spotless - there's not a hint of surface noise here. But the real showstopper is the b-sides disc. Having worn out those original CD singles back in the mid-90s, I know these songs as well as I know the main album - but I'm picking up on stuff I've never heard before. And with more room on the disc for the tracks to shine, songs like Ultranol, No Monsters In Me and Tame sound incredible. If you're just a casual fan, grab the 2LP version from 2012. But for true blur enthusiasts, this isn't just a cash-grab - it's really well done.

Great tunes, but what a ugly album cover! I'm sticking with the 2012 deluxe version, that's got the REAL artwork. The music's still top-notch, no doubt about it. Clearly an underrated gem! Five stars for the album, but this reissue gets a big fat zero from me.
