The songs on this album were awesome, but the case fell apart after only a week. I'm a big fan of Jackson's music, but the packaging for this album was really poor.
Quite an average pressing. There's some harshness and inner groove distortion. Soundstage is alright.
Totally perfect, zero skips, amazing audio! Just a heads up, this one doesn't have MJ listed as the co-producer like it says in the NOTES part!
This CD features pre-emphasis, so your player should handle the correction internally. If your player accurately processes the pre-emphasis, you'll achieve flawless sound. There's no channel or azimuth deviation, as that's inherent to CDs. The bass level matches the original mastering. The modern MFSL version seems to lack bass, and its stereo image isn't from the original mix; it's subjective, really. Thriller was initially released with strong bass in all international versions back in 1983. Since then, various altered versions have been made. This edition, along with many others from that time, packs a punch with bass, but in '83, some international releases were less bass-heavy and brighter. It's all about personal preference.
The sound quality is okay, but it's not outstanding on either the CD or SACD layer. I still like the original SACD more.
