Second full length release from Parisian DJ David Guetta is a quite pleasing blend of styles, all of it intensely danceable. '90s sound rehash? Bah, who cares if it works. "Just A Little More Love" featuring gospel singer Chris Willis, was a huge hit back in 2001, and they still play it nowadays at Ibiza. Anthemic and infectious uplifting, with elements of disco and funk scattered through the powerful beats of house, this track becomes even better after Wally Lopez editing, which been massive last summer already ahead of the release date. The Elektro Edit, which stands more in a breakbeat side, is just ok. "Love, Don't Let Me Go" featuring same vocalist is another Ibiza megahit. Tracks also worth mentioning is "Give Me Something" (vocals by Barbara Tucker), "People Come People Go", "You Are The Music". There is also two instrumentals: "133" and "Lately".
Sometimes, you don't want to think -- you just want some good dance music. And David Guetta delivers just that on JUST A LITTLE MORE LOVE. From the club-favorite title track onwards, there's no stopping the groove. A bit of 80s nostalgia infects these tracks, but not in a way that overwhelms or feels too retro. Barbara Tucker lends her powerhouse lungs to "Give Me Something (Deep in My Heart)," a solid house effort. The tracks here are short and easily digestible, made more for home listening than for club play, but a few gems still stand out: the aggressive chant of "It's Allright (Preaching Paris)"; the nouveau disco of "People Come People Go"; the filtering of David Bowie on "Just For One Day (Heroes)"; or the mellow tones and sax of "You Are the Music." My personal favorite, however, is "Distortion," with its dark rhythms, acid line and the brooding recording-booth voice. Go ahead and dance. You know you wanna.
