Huge Kate Bush enthusiast over here. I concur that the packaging is excellent and the booklet is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, my copy has a massive warp on record one, making the first part of Side A and B unlistenable. They're now going for $100.00 CAD and I just can't swing that.
I'm a huge fan of Kate Bush, her music is absolutely amazing. Whether it's ''out and out bizarre'' or ''perfect for the radio'' I adore how her voice and the instruments seem to leap out of the ordinary soundstage from my speakers, but alas... This one doesn't. It's as flat as 'a seal's sneeze' The songs on the album are fantastic, it's the audio quality that's the issue, like listening to a Pre-recorded Tape with the heads misaligned. Still, it's another CD for my Kate Bush collection, she can be excused for this because everything else, including ''50 Words For Snow'' is a masterpiece.
In my honest opinion, the earlier versions were superior. This is the first Kate Bush album that I find quite dull. I've listened to it three times now, and it just doesn't resonate with me at all.
No difference from the 2018 version, but I only own the original 2011 copy, which was packed with clicks and pops (it was second-hand, so that's no surprise). As many of you know, this album is incredibly bass-heavy, which can make the overall sound a bit murky. However, after tweaking some settings on my phono amp, I got it just right, and now it sounds amazing! The bass is no longer overwhelming, and I think it sounds fantastic! I also really enjoy this album. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but to be honest, I couldn't care less about other people's opinions, so 🤷.
I received my order, but it included two copies of sides 3 & 4... however, the individual discs appear distinct, not just in their grooves, which don't align, but the labels also differ, particularly in the font size of "side 3" and "side 4"... really odd.
