Product description

This LP was released in 1978.

"Plastic Ono Band," released on December 11, 1970, under EMI Catalogue, is a seminal work by the iconic John Lennon. This album, originally released in 1970, has been remastered in 2010, offering a fresh listening experience while preserving the raw, intimate essence of Lennon's debut solo effort. Spanning just under 40 minutes, this collection of ten tracks delves into themes of love, isolation, and personal reflection, showcasing Lennon's introspective songwriting and unfiltered emotional expression.

The album opens with the haunting "Mother," a poignant exploration of Lennon's complex relationship with his parents. Tracks like "Working Class Hero" and "God" offer biting social commentary, while "Love" and "Isolation" reveal Lennon's vulnerability. The album closes with the stark and personal "My Mummy's Dead," a raw and unflinching look at grief and loss. Each song is a testament to Lennon's ability to strip music down to its most basic elements, creating a deeply personal and resonant experience.

"Plastic Ono Band" is not just a collection of songs but a snapshot of John Lennon at a pivotal moment in his life and career. It's a raw, unfiltered look into the mind of one of music's most influential figures, making it a compelling listen for both longtime fans and newcomers alike. The remastered version ensures that the album's power and intimacy are preserved for new generations to discover and appreciate.

  • Lennon LP Impressive Despite Price

    5 out of 5 stars
    JgiLratxUscDecember 30, 2025United States🇺🇸

The discs arrived quite dusty and covered in paper residue straight from the factory, but it was no big deal. A swift Spin Clean session sorted it all out, and now they play wonderfully. No surface noise to speak of. The mix is stunning. Vocals are much clearer and more prominent. There are loads of subtle changes, some more noticeable...overall, I'm really taken with it. Though my UK first press will always be my main listening copy, I'm sure. The LP with the unreleased versions is fantastic. I love how it's put together as an “alternate” take on the album...each track is from a take that's different enough to be intriguing yet still close enough to sound “right”. As a die-hard Lennon fan, and especially of this album, I'd love to have all the bonus content from the CDs on vinyl...but that would be around 20 LPs, so this was well done. Great inserts and sleeves. Love the clearer photo on the cover - it matches the clearer mix. My only real issue is the retail price of $62. For just a 2LP, that's quite steep. Of course, I had to have it and I'm happy with it, but still.

  • Flawed Album Quality

    1 out of 5 stars
    JaxusfDrisib8December 21, 2025United States🇺🇸

Every track on this album is flawless, apart from Remember and Well Well. The quality control is utterly appalling. It appears this VERY problem has been going on for half a decade.

  • Brilliant Sound, No Issues

    5 out of 5 stars
    ticxjunihloyNovember 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm puzzled about what others are experiencing with their pressings...mine is performing brilliantly. The highs are incredibly sharp, the dynamic range is clear and expansive, no skips, and it sounds fantastic!

  • Initial Crackles, Enjoyable Mix

    5 out of 5 stars
    KgwiwesiNovember 8, 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm pleased with my purchase. When I first played it, there were numerous crackling sounds, but they disappeared after a few spins, so perhaps it was due to some leftover residue. I enjoyed the mix as well, but as someone mentioned earlier, you might not... possibly if your setup lacks adjustable EQ.
