Product description

This LP is pressed on 180g Gray vinyl.

The Cure's latest masterpiece, 'Songs Of A Lost World', is set to captivate audiences with its hauntingly beautiful soundscapes and poignant lyricism. Released on 1 November 2024 via Polydor Records, this 49-minute journey through the realms of new wave, post-punk, and darkwave is a testament to the band's enduring ability to craft music that is both deeply personal and universally relatable.

From the opening notes of 'Alone' to the closing strains of 'Endsong', The Cure weaves a sonic tapestry that is at once melancholic and mesmerising. With tracks like 'And Nothing Is Forever' and 'A Fragile Thing', the band showcases their signature blend of introspective songwriting and atmospheric instrumentation, while 'Warsong' and 'Drone:Nodrone' demonstrate their ability to craft songs that are both intense and cathartic.

Throughout the album, Robert Smith's distinctive vocals bring a sense of vulnerability and emotional depth to the proceedings, making 'Songs Of A Lost World' a deeply human and deeply affecting listening experience. With its themes of love, loss, and longing, this album is sure to resonate with fans of The Cure's earlier work, while its innovative production and experimentation ensure that it will also appeal to new listeners. As a result, 'Songs Of A Lost World' is an essential addition to any music collection, and a powerful reminder of The Cure's status as one of the most influential and beloved bands of all time.

  • Muffled and Overproduced

    5 out of 5 stars
    yoetmxpaxumiDecember 14, 2025United States🇺🇸

There's something off about this album, it sounds a bit muffled to me. I reckon it's the over-production and that irritating swirling sound effect that's all over it. Not a classic in my book, and the straight-from-digital-radio sound isn't doing it any favors.

  • Vinyl's Mastering Shines

    5 out of 5 stars
    syobzxisurNovember 25, 2025United States🇺🇸

In my opinion, this vinyl version of the album is the top one out there. It's not the most silent vinyl, and it might not be the best pressing overall, but the mastering is fantastic, especially when you compare it to the rest.

  • Optimal Mastering Triumphs

    5 out of 5 stars
    hufniromgNovember 19, 2025United States🇺🇸

I've got to echo what others have said; this is the top-notch version out there, no matter what you think about the masterings by Miles Showell and Bernie Grundmann. All Pallas pressings are fantastic, including the Marble Edt. (BG Cut) and 1/2 Speed Master (MS Cut) ones. But this LP, with MS Cut and pressed at Optimal, has truly won me over. Paired with a fineliner stylus, it offers an unbeatable sound experience. Dead silent and zero inner groove distortions, I must say. It's actually sold out on the official store (https://shopde.songsofalost.world/products/the-cure-songs-of-a-lost-world-13) but you can still find it in mint condition here on discogs.

  • Sound Quality Dulls Great Music

    3 out of 5 stars
    ZuxukKCusfotSeptember 27, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

I'm on the same page with a lot of the feedback shared here. The songs and performances are top-notch, but the sound quality—whether it's the mix or mastering—holds it back. I'm not an expert, but it feels like there's no dynamic range; everything's flat, with no clear distinction between instruments. It's all just one big blur, making it tough to listen to the whole way through. It seems like a deliberate creative choice, fitting the band's vibe with that murky, gloomy atmosphere. But it comes at the cost of the music's impact. Such a bummer, 'cause the songs and playing are really solid. It's like listening through a box stuffed with thick blankets.

  • Mid-Range Pressure, Skip It

    4 out of 5 stars
    buqisSeptember 17, 2025United States🇺🇸

Mid-range pressure. Highs are lacking. And the fact that it's all on one disc makes me want to toss it. Go for the 2LP 45 RPM version instead. Heard it once at a record store, it's definitely worth it.
