Product description

This is a 1991 Reissue released as a 2LP set.

"Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" is the seventh studio album by the iconic English rock band The Cure, released on May 26, 1987, through Fiction Records. This double album is a sprawling, genre-defying masterpiece that showcases the band's versatility and depth, blending elements of new wave, post-punk, and darkwave into a cohesive and captivating whole.

Produced by Robert Smith and Dave Allen, the album reached number six on the UK Album Chart and features a diverse range of tracks that highlight The Cure's signature melancholic yet catchy sound. From the hauntingly beautiful "Just Like Heaven" to the energetic "Hot Hot Hot!!!", the album offers a rich tapestry of moods and styles. The Cure's signature atmospheric sound is evident throughout, with tracks like "Torture" and "Snakepit" showcasing the band's ability to create dark, brooding soundscapes, while songs like "Why Can't I Be You?" and "All I Want" demonstrate their knack for crafting infectious, radio-friendly hooks.

The album's 17 tracks, spanning over an hour and twelve minutes, offer a journey through The Cure's sonic landscape, with each song revealing a different facet of the band's musical personality. The deluxe edition of the album, remastered by Robert Smith, includes additional tracks and offers an even deeper dive into The Cure's creative process during this prolific period.

"Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" is a testament to The Cure's enduring influence and innovation, capturing the band at a point where they were fully formed and confidently exploring new territories. Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to The Cure's music, this album is a compelling and rewarding listen that showcases the band's unique ability to blend beauty and melancholy into something truly unforgettable.

You are really lucky if you have this album in your vinyl collection. At least my girlfriend has a licensed copy from 2022 and the this version, and the difference in sound between them is minimal - which is a pleasant surprise. If we step away from the purely technical side, the album still impresses with its almost perfect balance between depressing and oppressive melodies and melancholic and calm ones. There is a certain ambiguity, even duplicity of mood in it - but that is what works for its integrity! Each side of the record has its own beginning and ending, while logically complementing each other. The album's aesthetic is quite strange and multifaceted. It can evoke a sincere smile or light joy when listening to compositions such as "Why Can't I Be You?", "The Perfect Girl" or the lively "Hey You!". At other times, the album makes you think about "being," as in "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" or "Like Cockatoos". And sometimes it envelops you in quiet sadness, particularly in "A Thousand Hours". Or plunges you into pure melancholy with the cult classics "Just Like Heaven" and "Catch." The sound of the album flows freely from intense guitar playing to clear, precise drum parts, which are successfully intertwined with orchestral and keyboards elements. Sometimes it's the other way around. This mixture does not destroy the composition, but rather emphasizes the structure of the lyrics and music as a whole. Chaos, rhythm, slowness, or energy - all of this works to form the overall picture of the album. Just like in Disintegration / Wish, here you can find successful «b-side tracks of that era» that could easily fit into the main tracklist - for example, "Chain Of Flowers" or "Japanese Dream." However, even without this, the album remains coherent and memorable. In my opinion, this release successfully combines the band's early period with all of its previous works, preserving its recognizable atmosphere and emotional depth
