Gorgeous music and amazing pressing 5 out of 5 glad this got a wider release for her sake
My copy is sensible to surrounding noises around playback (might just be my audio setup), otherwise the record is clean and sounds great! I was lucky enough to have the last copy they "smuggled into Canada" from bandcamp at the Montreal Jazz Fest!
This is the second copy I've purchased of the deluxe issue of this Album. Unfortunately, the same problems with playback on Side A especially track 1. Judging by the other comments on here I'm not the only one. Whats happened to quality control? Not sure I'll bother again? Maybe the US version is OK?
Stunning sound quality here. Detail and presence is quite remarkable. Total respect for the 2 x lp release that does this record justice.
To get it out of the way, the music is a full 5 stars, almost unbearably moving from start to finish. And it's great that this album is now available outside of sporadic bandcamp pressings that were commanding some pretty silly prices on the secondary market - but this pressing still leaves me wanting a little (though not enough to discourage anyone from buying it). The vinyls are centered and flat, and the mixes all sound nice and spacious, but I did have some issues with noise, in particular on Side A. This'll probably need a good VPI cleaning, as well as an upgrade to the inner sleeves as the paper ones here seemed especially poor. Right now though, it's noisier than I would prefer. Still, $30 plus a cleaning and some new sleeves is much more preferable to $100+ for one of the bandcamp pressings. And the music's worth it.
