  • Vibrant, High-Quality Replica

The jacket seems like a top-notch replica to me. The cover doesn't appear pixilated or faded... it’s quite vibrant.

  • Bowie's Saxophone Flops

    3 out of 5 stars
    tgazeykal3 September 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm really impressed with how Bowie's reissues are totally free from pops and clicks (so far, at least!). It's a shame that other companies and their teams don't put the same effort into the vinyl they produce for us 'regular folks'. I can't help but think that because it's Bowie, they actually care enough to give a damn and properly check the test pressings back at the office! I'm not sure the same level of care is given to bands like Popol Vuh, Field Music, or Everything Everything. Even George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass" didn't receive the same level of respect in its vinyl release. Anyway, the album itself... well, you know it's one of those that really splits the fans. For me, I enjoy every track except the instrumentals. And honestly, I'd like everything about those instrumentals if it weren't for Bowie's bloody awful saxophone playing. He managed to get away with his clumsy, lifeless melodies over the more experimental stuff from the late 70s, but here, the 'hey man, it's art' approach just doesn't work. He clearly intends to play a tune, but he falls short most of the time. Some poor engineer must've had to add chorus effects and delays here and there to try and dress it up as 'wild'... but it's not, it's just shit playing. God knows what Nile Rodgers was thinking! I want to make it clear that I'm a huge Bowie fan, both as a person and for his music, and I own every major album release on vinyl except for a couple from the mid-80s. "Black Tie White Noise" could've been amazing if he had just left his saxophone at home.

This is the Singapore edition, and it features tracks 2-6, which include 'Don't Let Me Down' and 'Down [Indonesian Vocal]'—in Indonesian, that's 'Jangan Susahkan Hatiku'.

  • Bowie Gem, Flawed Sound

    4 out of 5 stars
    pacnkpagut22 July 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Amongst my top Bowie albums, this one's a gem, but the quality's not as great as I'd hoped. The records are flat and quiet, with barely any surface noise to speak of. Yet, certain tracks (Black Tie White Noise, Jump They Say, Pallas Athena, etc.) sound overly compressed, making it hard to catch all the details. Plus, I reckon the cover should've been gatefold with a booklet included, in my humble opinion.

  • 80s Bowie Gem Shines

    5 out of 5 stars
    thejili084225 April 2025United States🇺🇸

While not everyone's favorite Bowie album, it's certainly one of my favorites. As a teen in the 80s, my first exposure to Bowie was through "Let's Dance," so "Black Tie White Noise" really spoke to me when it dropped. I'm over the moon that it's finally getting a standalone release, mastered by the legendary Bob Ludwig. The pressing quality is impeccable, too. This is an amazing release, and I can't stop playing it!
