Product Description

This is a 2021 Reissue Remastered released as a LP.

"Hotel California," the fifth studio album by the legendary Eagles, is a timeless classic that encapsulates the essence of 1970s rock. Released on December 8, 1976, under the Rhino/Elektra label, this iconic album blends classic and soft rock elements to create a sound that is both nostalgic and enduring. The 2013 remaster brings new life to the original tracks, offering a crisp and clear listening experience.

Featuring hits like "Hotel California," "New Kid in Town," and "Life in the Fast Lane," the album showcases the Eagles' signature harmonies and intricate musicianship. Each song tells a story, painting vivid pictures of love, loss, and the American dream. The Eagles' ability to weave compelling narratives with catchy melodies makes "Hotel California" a standout in their discography.

With a runtime of 43 minutes, the album is a journey through the band's creative prowess. Tracks like "Victim of Love" and "The Last Resort" highlight the Eagles' versatility, while "Wasted Time" and its reprise add a reflective touch. The album's production quality and songwriting depth make it a must-listen for fans of classic rock and those discovering the Eagles for the first time.

How do we keep reviews authentic?

Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

  • Perfect Pressings, Flawed Hotel

    2 out of 5 stars

Here's how I'd rate some of these 1-step pressings: Yes Fragile, a solid 10/10, BS&T also 10/10, Abraxas, another 10/10, and There Goes Rymin Simon, 10/10 as well. Hotel California, I'd give a 6/10, and that's being kind, it's way too bright and tinny on my setup - unlike the others. I'm putting it up for sale and just ordered an original/early pressing a few days back.

  • Eagles Live Experience Bliss

Incredibly amazing in every way imaginable. It's like having the Eagles performing live right in your own space. Have a blast!

  • Mixed Feelings on Detailed Sound

    4 out of 5 stars
    Kowafeda972 December 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm genuinely puzzled by the wide range of opinions expressed in these reviews. It's quite fascinating, I must say. I've tried it on both my Sonus Faber Cremona M and Forte III speakers, and I've got to tell you, it never once came across as bright. That's the last adjective I'd use to describe this one step. On the plus side, it's quite detailed, very open sounding, and the imaging and soundstage are simply incredible. Plus, there's a lot of deep, punchy bass to enjoy. On the downside, as someone mentioned earlier, there's a certain lack of musicality here, and I've noticed that in every one step I've owned, including the other Eagles one steps. Someone below said, "lifeless: I didn't enjoy the listening, my feet didn't tap on the floor as I used to do, it was quite boring instead..." I totally get what they mean. I've felt that way about every one step to a certain degree. Another negative is that the vocals are a bit off, a bit thin and tinny, and they sound very small. The soundstage and instruments are massive, but then the vocals are just a tiny point in the mix, a bit recessed and thin. The vocals just don't sound quite right, to be honest. Full disclosure: I've only heard this version digitally, both on my system and in my car. I'm a bit picky, I'll admit. I've found other Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab records that others raved about to be absolute garbage (like Eldorado, for example). I've got a lot of amazing albums in my collection, so it takes a lot to impress me. Lastly, the hype around this album might have set my expectations a bit too high. Overall, it's very good, but not something that makes me want to listen again. And Hotel California is my all-time favorite song. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy it too.

  • MoFi Album Disappointment

    2 out of 5 stars
    fse1bnmer16 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Unbelievable how this album is like night and day compared to other MoFi releases. Rather than enhancing the music with more detail and beauty, it does the exact opposite, drowning all the engaging and pleasant details in a sea of amplified midbass and upper treble that buries the whole band and vocalist. The moment you play any other version (except the MoFi SACD which, weirdly, strips out all the bass and treble, making it sound like you're listening through an old phone) you instantly get that “ahhh, that’s much better” sensation. Give this release a wide berth. The SuperVinyl isn't even quiet on this one to make it worse.

  • Extreme Brightness, Poor Mastering

    3 out of 5 stars
    QuornpUkTuuymla12 November 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm not one to frequently leave negative feedback. I've been a Mobile Fidelity enthusiast for ages, ever since my high school days when I purchased my first MFSL CD. I'm not planning to return my purchases or fill out any forms for a discount, despite their dishonesty about DSD usage. I own several One-Steps and even spin my records on one of their Studiodecks. I'm writing this for others who might be curious about the "brightness" criticism. Let me assure you, it's genuine. It's EXTREMELY bright. For those with mastering studio experience, it's like they cranked the "stereo widener" to max. The hi-hats and drums are super clear, but the vocals suffer. They sound more distant and "tinny" compared to the original. It was so thin, I thought my Primaluna pre-amp tubes might be on the fritz and swapped them for some NOS British-made GE 12AU7s. These new (old) tubes sound fantastic, but even they couldn't fix MFSL's odd mastering choice for this record. Additionally, all four sides had non-fill issues, so I returned my copy after waiting since the pre-order announcement. I'm disappointed and want to warn those sensitive to extreme treble. If this had been a $59.99 45 rpm pressing, I might've kept it for the unique mastering, but it's not worth $125+. Honestly, the 2021 Chris Bellman mastered version at Walmart in the USA is the best currently available. It sounds more like the original, just quieter. Check it out. It's only $20.
