This is an absolute work of art. The recording is superb and the performance feels incredibly real. The sound is perfectly balanced across all frequencies.
Feelin' a bit torn about the new BN reissues, but the sound? Absolutely top-notch. My copy's flawless. Swap the innerselve if you're feelin' fancy, then kick back and groove to the tunes. Go ahead and grab it, no regrets!
The initial one I got had some fill problems, but the new one is flawless. This series is fantastic and the sound quality is incredible. The percussion, especially, is super sharp and feels like it's right there with you.
Odd mistake: the order of pages 1 and 3 in the booklet is swapped.
Fantastic sounding album! Incredibly deep black background with flawless instrument separation. It's like each instrument is leaping out of the speakers. Beautiful music, those two Kenny Dorham tracks are distinctive, laid-back, and bittersweet. Rich trumpet and sax tones on this recording. Every rhythm player is outstanding and, right on the beat. Joe Henderson is delivering some serious Hard Bop with fascinating melodies and great counterpoint! A must-have Blue Note.
