Product description

This is a 2009 Reissue Remastered released as a LP.

Released on October 1, 1984, "The Unforgettable Fire" stands as the fourth studio album by the iconic Irish rock band U2. This album marks a significant milestone in U2's discography, as it was their first studio collaboration with renowned producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. The duo's innovative approach to production brought a new depth and atmospheric quality to U2's sound, setting the stage for their future experimental works.

"The Unforgettable Fire" is a testament to U2's evolving artistry, blending their signature anthemic rock with ambient and electronic elements. The album's title track, "The Unforgettable Fire," is a standout, showcasing the band's ability to craft poignant and introspective lyrics alongside powerful, uplifting melodies. Other notable tracks include "Pride (In The Name of Love)," a tribute to civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., and "Bad," a haunting exploration of heroin addiction.

The album's influence extends beyond its musical content. The Unforgettable Fire tour, which began in August 1984, was one of U2's most ambitious and visually stunning tours to date, featuring elaborate stage designs and innovative use of technology. This tour solidified U2's reputation as a live act and brought their music to a global audience.

"The Unforgettable Fire" was reissued several times, with notable remasters in 2009 that included bonus tracks and live performances, offering fans a deeper dive into the album's creation and legacy. The remastered version features 26 tracks, including live performances and remixes, providing a comprehensive look at the album's impact and enduring appeal.

With a duration of 1 hour and 52 minutes, the remastered version of "The Unforgettable Fire" is a rich and immersive experience for both longtime fans and newcomers to U2's music. The album's themes of social justice, personal struggle, and spiritual exploration continue to resonate, making it a timeless addition to any music collection.

  • Improved Second Pressing

    4 out of 5 stars

Wow, this is so much improved from my first copy. It's really strange to me that such a highly anticipated and popular release wasn't pressed better right from the start.

  • Early U2 Vinyl Journey

    4 out of 5 stars
    gegeWF_December 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

As a massive enthusiast of early U2's work, I've been gradually completing my vinyl collection, and this album is part of that journey. I won't delve too much into the individual tracks here, as you can find that information elsewhere. Generally, this album and "War" are quite dense with that signature early '80s reverb sound, which is even more pronounced than Edge's usual delay effects. Consequently, the mix can come across as a bit chaotic and sometimes lacks clarity, especially in the vocals. Once you get used to the sound, though, you can kick back and enjoy the powerful bass lines, rhythmic guitar swells, and Bono's distinctive vocal range. He can go from a soft whisper to an intense scream in an instant—it's quite something. I did notice that the bass on "Bad" is noticeably louder than on the other tracks. The quality of this pressing is solid. No major issues here.

  • Production Quality Issues

    2 out of 5 stars
    tetifyuzpnoduxDecember 3, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

The tunes are fantastic, no doubt about it. However, as many have pointed out, there seems to be an issue with the production. Whether it's the recording, mastering, or pressing, I can't say. But it does sound cheap, weak, and like someone inexperienced made it.

  • Muffled Sound, Skip Pressing

    2 out of 5 stars
    febib34817December 1, 2025United States🇺🇸

I haven't got any other version of this to compare it with, but sadly, it just doesn't sound right. Side 1 is really muffled…Side 2 is a bit improved, however. The music's fantastic, naturally, but go for a different pressing!

  • Great Sound for Price

    4 out of 5 stars
    Behxut9November 26, 2025United States🇺🇸

Must've gotten a bad one, the other reviewer. This one sounds great! Not an audiophile, but it's good. It's dynamic, with solid bass and treble that's not too bright. Vocals come through clear. You can't beat this for the price.
